Re: vdisks are in a quarantined state
Hi,
Older generation MSAs like P2000 G3 and earlier G1/G2 generations support linear vdisks.
Newer generation MSAs like MSA 2050 , MSA 2060 support only virtual pools and disk groups.
MSA 2040 supports both linear vdisks and virtial pools/disk groups. Quarantine disk group/vdisk issue could occur on any generation MSA.
Troubleshooting quarantine vdisk/disk group issue requires log analysis and reviewing debug logs.
Firmware update or faulty hard drive replacement is not the correct troubleshooting step for quarantine vdisk/disk groups.
If all the disks which are part of the vdisk/disk group are in healthy state, you could try a graceful power cycle of MSA.
Shut down the storage controllers through SSH CLI or SMU , remove power to controller enclosure and disk enclosures.
Provide power to disk enclosures first and then controller enclosure after 3-5 minutes allowing enough time for disks to spin up and check whether disk group / vdisk comes out of quarantine state.
If issue persists you would need to log an HPE support case to get the logs reviewed for further assistance.
