Lunit and HPE OEM Solutions: Adapting Cancer Detecting AI for COVID-19 Challenges
As our world is changing with new challenges and shifting priorities, scientists and medical experts across the globe are racing to find a cure for COVID-19. Lunit, a South Korean startup and an HPE OEM partner, saw an opportunity to adapt its existing chest imagery AI to detect evidence of coronavirus-based pneumonia. With an AI solution based on deep learning, the young team at Lunit is achieving detection accuracy that is unrivaled while partnering with HPE OEM to scale its technology to the world at rapid pace.
The Lunit INSIGHT CXR software can discover multiple radiologic findings including lung consolidation, which indicates possible coronavirus (COVID-19) infected pneumonia. It can detect chest abnormalities & diagnose infections, enabling physicians better manage Covid-19. According to Brandon Suh, M.D., CEO of Lunit, โWe are delighted to announce that one of our most mature products, Lunit INSIGHT CXR, has won CE marking. We look forward to installations among hospitals across Europe, where an improvement in healthcare services in the region can greatly impact many peopleโs lives".
Lunit's collaboration with HPE OEM has also enabled the company to deliver its life-changing AI-driven solution to help physicians pinpoint the location of malignant tumors on patient medical images. HPE OEM not only provides standardized configurations to accelerate solution delivery but also streamlines installation of Lunitโs intellectual property. With the help of AI, doctors can uncover new insights in data, which can help in better understanding a patient's condition. This, eventually, provides more accuracy and prediction of the patients' health, hence diagnosis happens more strategically with a better and more advanced plan of action for treatment.
At a time when the medical industry is undergoing drastic changes, AI is bringing in the change to improve all aspects of patient care and enhanced clinical collaboration. At HPE, the OEM team has been consistent in driving innovation and Machine Learning that has opened up an accelerated path to stay ahead of the competition and further enhance the value of healthcare solutions.
