ANSI/C Upgrade related issue
The following is the current status of ANSI/C product on HPUX 11.0 system
B3901BA : B.11.01.07 :HP C/ANSI C Developer's Bundle for HP-UX 11.00 (S800)
PHSS_18311 : 1.0 :C_ANSI_C Japanese Updated Manpage
PHSS_21223 : 1.0 :ANSI C compiler cumulative patch
PHSS_22272 : 1.0 :ANSI C compiler cumulative patch
PHSS_25171 : 1.0 :ANSI C compiler cumulative patch
I wish to upgrade the ANSI/C product to version B.11.02.08 from current (old )version B.11.01.07.
Questions ->
Will the new product overlay the old one safely?
Will there be any dependacy for apps to re-compile?
Will the patches for OLD ANSI/C will unconfigured/disappear from swlist with OLD product ?
Any landmines I am missing ?
-TIA

Re: ANSI/C Upgrade related issue
I'm answering this from memory, so please don't quote me.....
- Yes, it will overlay with no problems.
- No, you shouldn't need to recompile (unless there is a new feature in the later version of the compiler you want to make use of, such as better optimization for example).
- No - but these patches may well be superseded. Its worth checking.
I don't remember any problems from the last time I did this. It was all pretty straight forward.
