Trying to install PHSS_28435

It's complaining about
The patch fileset "PHSS_28435.LANG-HELP,r=1.0" may only be
installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The
specification for this base fileset is
"Auxiliary-Opt.LANG-HELP,fr=B.11.11,v=HP". Since there is no
fileset on the target or selected from the source which
matches this specification, fileset
"PHSS_28435.LANG-HELP,r=1.0" will be excluded.

PHSS_28435 has the following dependency

PHSS_30966 13MB -- s700_800 11.11 ld(1) and linker tools cumulative patch.

You have to install that too.

You can download the patch from itrc , that will automatically combine the dependency too.

thanks guys, I have downloade the patch, untarred it and created the depot. Here's what I got.

root(raven)/d01/patches:
#ls
PHSS_28435 PHSS_30966.depot depot
PHSS_28435.depot PHSS_30966.text depot.psf
PHSS_28435.text README_hp-ux hpux_800_11.11_08241003.tar
PHSS_30966 create_depot_hp-ux_11 patch_manifest

Do I have to run them independently? or can I do them both at once somehow?

Hi Kevin ,

You have downloaded the patch .
Now you have to untar it , and you have done that.
Now:

1. Creat the depot usning this command
# ./create_depot_hp-ux_11 patch_manifest

It will create a depot directory.

2. # swinstall -s /yourdir/depot

And you can install the patch , through the swinstall window.

And select all the patches , when they displayed in the swinstall window choose --> Action --> Install --> OK.

This will install all.

I installed them all. However when I check for them, they aren't there. When I go to install the PHSS_28435 separately again, it comes back with the original error message.

Now I did install the bundle first. It completed with success. Then I check for PHSS_28436 and it's not there, but PHSS_30966 is. Any ideas?

PHSS_28436 has been override by the latest PHSS_30966 , so no worry.

And if you check itrc patch database you can find that PHSS_28436 has got some warning. And recomended is PHSS_30966 , so you have installed the correct one.

If you look at my last update, that patch is now on my system supposedly. The link said the warning would be during the kernel rebuild. I did not receive such a warning and rebooted and it looks fine.
