ASM + SLVM + SGeRAC + SGeRAC Toolkit + 10g R2
Hai.
We have installed Oracle 10gR2 RAC on HP-UX 11.23 using SLVM(SGeRAC A.11.17) for ASM. We are facing a problem with srvctl utility. What ever we do with this tool, its doing a core dump. I would like to know if any else is facing this issue. All other utilities like crs_stat, crsctl are working fine. Database, ASM instances are also working fine.
Also, I want to know if we have to create any scripts and submit to SGeRAC Toolkit MNP Packages to control the Oracle Clusterware, Database and Nodeapps startup and shutdown with system startup/shutdown. Also, I hope we have to execute "crsctl disable crs" command.
Please help me in this regard. If anyone has used this SGeRAC Toolkit MNP Packages for controlling RAC Databases, please share the info. If possible mail me the sample scripts to dileep.tallam@mannai.com.qa
regards,
Dileep Tallam.

Re: ASM + SLVM + SGeRAC + SGeRAC Toolkit + 10g R2
Shalom,
Normal cause of this is one of two areas:
1) Oracle bugs, see them for a patch.
2) Not installing required OS patches before installing Oracle.
Go to the Oracle Metalink website, dig for the patch list for your OS and make sure you meet the patch requirements. Oracle lists supersed patches, so you'll need to check their recommendations against the patch database link on http://itrc.hp.com
Do not install and or run oracle without required OS patches. Those that try often have production problems.

Re: ASM + SLVM + SGeRAC + SGeRAC Toolkit + 10g R2
Hai Steven,
Thanks for your reply. We have installed all the O/S patches. We did all the pre-install checks. The pre-install and post-install checks are 100% passed.
Any how Oracle has associated a bug with that has assigned it to their Development Team and they are investigating the issue for possible bugs.
Also, I would like to know if you/any one of you have done the similar setup and have automated the startup/shutdown of Oracle Clusterware and RAC Database Instances using SGeRAC Toolkit packages. If so please provide me the complete details. I have gone through the HP docs, but I require more info on that. Please share your info with me.
regards,
Dileep Tallam.
