BIND 8.1.2 - core dump.
Hello !!!
I have successfully installed and configured from scratch BIND 8.1.2 on HP-UX 11.00 (workstation B2000).
It doesn't working fine. It starts up and works good about 20 minutes and then dumps core without any message.
Configuration is as simply as possible - one domain and two nodes. Workstation B2000 has 2 lan interfaces but one is disabled from BIND configuration (by listen-on parameter). It is only change in default configuration file.
Is it normal behavior of BIND 8.1.2 ???

Re: BIND 8.1.2 - core dump.
Hi
I would first look at what part of the programme is generating the core file.
I have attached a basic analysis doc
Regards
Steve

Re: BIND 8.1.2 - core dump.
installed from scratch implies installed from source - but BIND 8.1.2 is rather old these days, and I would have thought that anyone installing from source would have used 8.3.mumble (?) from www.isc.org.
hp did provide an 8.1.2 web release, but I thought that too was updated some time ago to at least an 8.2.mumble?

Re: BIND 8.1.2 - core dump.
I would suggest you to use this bind 8.1.2 depot compiled by HP. I had this running for over a year without any problem.
