To set primary and alternate bootpaths (once you are in multi-user mode)
setboot -p
once you are booted, to determine which disk you are booted off of,
echo boot_string/S|adb /stand/vmunix /dev/mem
here is the syntax for setboot:
>setboot
Primary bootpath : 0/0/1/1.2.0
Alternate bootpath : 0/0/2/0.2.0
Autoboot is ON (enabled)
Autosearch is ON (enabled)
You can then use the flags
-p to set primary path
-a to set alternate path
-b autoboot on/off
-s autoserch on/off

if you want to boot from alternate disk/tape/cdrom you must
1. start server
2. when you will see:
"To discontinue, press any key within 10"
press any key
3. type sea command to scan devices
4. boot from you alternated device
ex:
bo p3
5. when you want to go into single user mode
you have to interact with IPL and
type command: hpux -is

pressing the Reset-Button (in the backside of teh serevr)and hold the 'P' in the console keyboard simultaniously .Then Follow the instruction on the screen.
