bootptd/BOOTREQUEST
Hi,
I am runnign an rp2470 with March GoldBase patches on it (11.11)
It is on the same subnet as other similar servers, and we have boot clients broadcasting their IPs on the same subnet. The other boxes have UX 11.0 and they see the MAC broadcast - the 11.11 box does not. The bootpd is set to debug (-d3) and I still see nothing in syslog. They are all connected through the same switch, same subnet (59.40.101.20-111). All ahve x.x.x.0 mask.
Am I not seeing the broadcast or is there something different on 11.11 to enable?

Re: bootptd/BOOTREQUEST
You can only boot clients on the built in lan card. Is that the one you are using(lan0)?
After booting the box you can use other lan cards for the image download.
If this is not the server, check the configuration of the processes
[5004#] ps -ef | grep boot
UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME COMMAND
root 1512 1 0 Mar 25 ? 0:13 /usr/sbin/rbootd
root 4607 1096 0 Mar 25 ? 0:01 bootpd
Kill the processes and restart them inetd -c
On the Ignite server, the IP address needs to be compatiable and not conflict with other addresses.
Lastly, you need to make sure the lanadmin -x 0 is the same on all servers.
If you connect via a cisco switch turn off auto negotiate hard code the NIC settings on the switch port.
Then do the same thing in each servers /etc/rc.config.d/hpbtlanconf
Here are my settings:
HP_BTLAN_INTERFACE_NAME[0]=lan0
HP_BTLAN_STATION_ADDRESS[0]=
HP_BTLAN_SPEED[0]=10HD
HP_BTLAN_INTERFACE_NAME[1]=lan1
HP_BTLAN_STATION_ADDRESS[1]=
HP_BTLAN_SPEED[1]=100FD
If you make changes there a boot will be required to test it.
lanadmin -X 0 100FD can make temporary setting changes in this matter.
