I've got a C1512A tape drive and I'm going to attempt to configure it on my 745i Unix box running HP-UX v.10.2.
I've looked all over for a user manual for this tape drive, but haven't had any luck. Does anyone know the DIP switch detail for this device? There are 4 (four) dip switches and I'm guessing they have to do with setting the SCSI address...is this a simple binary weight?

Re: C1512A Tape Drive
usaly las three switches on the right side are used to compound scsi ID as binary (000,001,010,011 -> 0,1,2,3). Set the 4 dip (left side) to 0.

Re: C1512A Tape Drive
I would suggest that the DIP switches be set to 2 up the rest down. This would allow you set compression via software as opposed to hard coding it forever. If you wish to do something other than stock then a call to the RC is in order.
The standard addressing scheme for a SE SCSI bus is 6 for the boot drive, 0 for the tape drive, etc.

SolutionIf I read you correctly, you are looking for the configuration of the dipswitches on the back of the C1512A tape drive, accessable from the back of the product.
When viewed from the rear of the cabinet, there are 5 switches (from left to right):
P T 2 1 0
P = Parity
T = Termination
2,1,0 = SCSI address.
If this drive is the only device on the SCSI bus, then ENABLE the P and T switches and set the SCSI address appropriately. For example, SCSI address 4 would be: 2=UP, 1=DOWN, 0=DOWN.
Good luck,
Curt
