Can login window be set to display asterisks for password?
HP-UX 10.20, series 700.
The question came up whether we could set the login
window such that asterisks are displayed as the user
enters the password.
Our system uses dtwm (desktop window manager) which
is initiated by dtsession which is initiated by dtlogin.
So, I am guessing that it's dtlogin that displays the
login window.
Is there a way, either configuration file or something, to
have the login window display asterisks when the password is entered??
thanks,
Boyd

Re: Can login window be set to display asterisks for password?
Hello,
the simple answer is "no, you cannot".
The only other way (AFAIK) would be to get the sources
for "XDMd" (X Display Management daemon) from linux
or the MIT and build your own one...
Sorry,
Wodisch
