Re: cannot boot vpar from tape
"For PA-RISC servers, beginning with vPars A.03.03 for HP-UX 11i v1 and A.04.03 for HP-UX 11iv2, vPars
supports tape drives. This includes recovery of a virtual partition within a vPars environment and without
using an Ignite-UX server as a boot helper."
So you can only boot a vPar on a PA-RISC system from tape.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: cannot boot vpar from tape
The vPars A.03.x series of releases for HP-UX 11.11 continues with the
release of vPars A.03.03.
This release introduces two new features and important bug fixes:
o tape boot support
o Primary-Admin vPars Security
o IPMI fix to delayed logging of system hardware issues
Tape boot support allows for recovery of individual vPars from
Ignite-UX recovery tapes while other virtual partitions are running.
