Capture Kernel Image/DUMP after a forced TOC?
We've a server that we've been waiting to PANIC so we can get a full dump. Instead it's been hanging.
Can we do a TC (TOC) instead during a HUNG situation and still able to capture the running/failing kernel?
What are the proceddures?
(sorry geting rusty woth HP-UX)...

Re: Capture Kernel Image/DUMP after a forced TOC?
A TOC (if successful) will generate a crash dump since it gets handled much like an explicit panic.
So it kind of depends on how the system is hung. Hung as in non-responsive due to resources? Should work... hung because it is actually in an infinite loop on the interrupt stack or something... TC may not go through and you'd end up having to RS to reset the system. (And a RS most definitely does not save the crash).
Longwinded version of "Yes, you can try it. Usually will work but no guarantee."
How depends a bit on firmware/model -- for most servers these days, go to your console [telnet, physical, whatnot], ^B if you have to to get back to the MP prompt, then CM (Commands Menu) and TC.
