Change IP address of remote printer
We have 5 printers (under Printers and Plotters is SAM) defined on HPUX which all print to a printserver. We only need to change IP address (destination)of the printserver. IS there a simpel way to only change the IP address of the remote printers on HPUX ?. If we need to create new printers I'm not sure some special settings will lost when we change printers bu deleting and recreating them.

Re: Change IP address of remote printer
Shalom,
The printers themselves need IP address changes.
A quick and dirty way is to change entries in /etc/hosts file.
You might also pursue changing them with sam

Re: Change IP address of remote printer
I'm afraid we did enter IP addresses instead of names. If it's possible using SAM i didn't find it I also searched config files but did not found a reference to the printers destination. (I'm a novice on Unix)

Re: Change IP address of remote printer
Hi.
The quick way is to delete the printer queues and recreate them, but then there is the risk you would lose whatever is in the queue unless you move them between queues using lpmove.
If you are using lp you could as a last resort change the interface files, but unless you know what you are doing I would not recommend it. Special warning... if you are brave (I'm being polite) enough to edit the interface files take a backup of those interface files before you make any changes.
Regards
Andrew Y
