Re: configure Virtual IP

Shalom,

Virtual IP is created in the package configuration, not the cluster configuration. A virtual IP's purpose is to give users a single connection point no matter which node the package is running on.

Re: configure Virtual IP

Hi,

From http://docs.hp.com/en/J4256-90005/ch07s04.html:

Determining MC/ServiceGuard Cluster Information

Before configuring IPSec policies, determine the following information about the MC/ServiceGuard cluster:

* Heartbeat IP addresses

The heartbeat IP address for each cluster node is specified using the HEARTBEAT_IP parameter in the node definitions section of the cluster configuration file.

* Package addresses

The package addresses are configured using the IP[i] statements in the package control script.

See the provided link for more information.

Re: configure Virtual IP

yes you can create the heartbeat IP using the ifconfig command but in order this ip address to persist reboot after reboot, you need to place it in the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file. Use one of the already existing ip address definition blocks as a templeta and duplicate it and then change the values according to your heartbeat ip address requirements.

after you complete this, run

/sbin/init.d/net stop
/sbin/init.d/net start

from a console session.
then you will need to place the heartbeat addresses into hosts file as needed.
