Re: crase /stand/system ??

What exactly do you mean when /stand/system crashes? What about the rest of /stand? When do you discover it has crashed -- during a reboot? during a kernel rebuild?

If the system file is the only file that is gone, then I think you can restore it from a backup, if your system is up and running.

If the whole /stand is gone, then you've got bigger problems.......

Re: crase /stand/system ??

What the helk are you talking about? /stand/system can not crash as it's a text file containing kernel parameters, and not a binary.

If it was deleted somehow, then I would venture to say to copy from a known good system with the same config. You may be able to use SAM to re-create it if not.

Note that unless you are trying to re-build the kernel this file should not be required for anything that I know of.....However this is one of those files I have never blown away! :)

Re: crase /stand/system ??

Hi,

If you have erased your /stand/system file do simply:

/usr/lbin/sysadm/get_sysfile /stand/vmunix >/tmp/system

Then you can either move or copy /tmp/system to
/stand/system

Works in HPUX11

This person is logging quite a few similar queries like this one, almost as though they are asking multiple choice questions for an exam like the Certification exam.

I wonder...........

If you have make_recovery
#mt -t fsr 1 /dev/rmt/0mn
#tar xv /stand/vmunix
