DISK/11.11

Hi All,

I have a problem here. I was contracted out to install some disks for a client. K580 running 11.11 with a lot of jamaica drives. Around 5 enclosures holding 8 disks each. Well, We installed an HP-BP 16 bit differential scsi card (HP28696A, 28696-60001) to connect an additional external jamaica enclosure. I had to install the SCSI3 driver to see the card, that seems OK. However, I am not getting usable disks on this card. All are showing unknown,,unclaimed,,unknown. All the other enclosures are connected through a HSC FW SCSI card and all is OK. The only thing I can think of is that 11.11 does not like this card in a K580. I have this same card in another 11.11 box connected to a jamaica box, but that is a K210. Not sure what the problem may be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: DISK/11.11

If hardware shows in the ioscan output as unclaimed/unknown, it means that the driver it requires is not in the kernel. Please advise what drivers you do have for this server.

Re: DISK/11.11

Thanks Michael,
I'll get a list together and post in the AM.
I thought the SCSI3 driver for the HP-BP card would be enough.

Re: DISK/11.11

Hi,
I have a K580 system running with 11i and Jamaica connected through HP-PB card.
The drivers for

HP-PB card-----scsi3
JAmaica Disks ----disc3.

I hope if u include disc3 into the kernel and reboot the system u should see the disks claimed.

Re: DISK/11.11

Robert,

If the SCSI card is listed on the http://partsurfer.hp.com site as a certified card for the K580 server, it should work.

The only issue I can think of that would bother you is that not all slots in that class of server can take every kind of add in card. That data is on the server documentation.

If you've already got a few SCSI cards in there, you may have gone a scsi card too far.

If one of the cards that is certified for the drives in question, perhaps you can get away with daisy chaining the jamaica boxes.
