We have a HP_UX server qith 11i O/S. I am planning to attach a Ultrium tape autoloader 1/8 to this server. I need following info :
1) How to check if driver is installed on this
server for subject tape drive.
2) How to install the driver for subject
tape drive. Where the drivers are available
like CD / web
3) How to configure this driver to tape drive
so that i can start taking backup
4) What is the general procedure to
find/install/configure drivers for any
hardware ( other than tape drive ) on HP-UX
server
5) Any other info we have to know.
Detailed point by point answers are welcome.
Thanks

Re: Driver for Ultrium tape autoloader 1/8
Can you give us the full model number? If you can, we can likely find a user manual online for your model that answers all your questions.

Solutionyou need drivers:
1. for tape device- stape
2. for changer - schgr
Ad 1)
to check if it is installed
kmsystem | grep stape
kmsystem | grep schgr
Ad. 2)
you have to add drivers by SAM interface
SAM -> Kernel Configuration -> Drivers
Ad. 3)
During system reboot all new devices are
recoqnized by OS.
You can also run ioscan and insf commands.
Ad 4)
like point 2)

I would read thru this first, and really see what you need to do. It is my belief that you just need a capatible, working SCSI port to attach the tape drive.
