Envizex II on HP-UX 11i

I'm looking to connect a few Envezex II Xterminals that are flying around here to a RP2450 running HP-UX 11.00 and later HP-UX 11i. I want to do some training on it for collegues and to me this is the best solution. Problem is that I can't find Netstation Software running on 11.00 or 11i. Does it exsist?

I don't have Envizex II's but I do have Entria II's and the situation is exactly the same. Remember that this is code which runs on the Xterminal itself; your 10.20 code will work just fine on both 11.0 and 11.11 (I've used it on both). All long as you have exported the filesystems and enabled the bootp entries it will work just fine. You will need to enable the swinstall 'Allow installation of incompatible software' option.

Hi Sander,

Yes it's available.
It's on the Application CDs that ship w/the OS.
On my 11.0 set it's on CD #3 - named netstation on the CD.
Note this is a purchase product - so you'll need to contact HP, pay the $ & get a codeword to unlock.

2 points to add .....

a) Enware s/w Ver 9.11 or 7.11 is only available as 10.20 and 11.00 depots from HP. It may work on 11.i but won't be supported.

b) The s/w is free but may be codeworded still on the apps cd's .... search the forum for hp's ftp site which you can use to download it from if need be.

If you have problems let me know I'll dig it out.

licencing is on a per server basis.

Some netstation local client applications for 10.20 will not work on 11.00, I have never vereified if they work on 11.00. This is due to the way they're spawned off, but in 99% of the time you will never use them, and even if you do, you won't realise you're using them... so I won't go into it more. (If they don't work the host based ones automatically start off).. in any case,

I would ensure you are up to latest xterm patches, because of certain new 11.00 introductions such as UID number changes fixed in later 9.11 patches.

Remember that the xterm is just an X display.. based on X11R5 (with some X11R6 inclusions), once you got the Xserver up (via bootp/tftp/nfs) everything else should work.. ie you've done the hard part!

I use HP Envizex II terminals to connect on a HPUX 11.i, the netstation software was on the Installation CDs. As for the config files, I just moved the ones I had on the old HPUX 10.20 They seem to work just fine. I also have a few Entria and older envizex a-series and p-series which also work with 11i. I still have one 700 and one 400 X-terminal but I haven't tinkered with those yet.
