Exceed 7.1.1, configuration issues

Hi Gurus:

I am attempting to configure Exceed 7.1.1 to be able to connect to a HP-UX server. My PC is a XP box, and from the HP system, I am able to do a nslookup of my XP machine and vice versa. So I know name resolution is okay.

Exactly what do I need to configure within Exceed to get this to connect to work? What services must be configured/running on the HP machine? x_start, CDE, xfs, dtlogin???

Yes, I have tried to follow all of the suggestion in the postings, but none have worked for me. I figure I am doing something wrong.

Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks Gurus!

On the HP side you can do with a little as telnet being enabled. On the Win box, you can run xstart from the exceed folder and use this setup string to create a connection config:

@(XTerm, method=stdappdb) -display @d -fn 7x10 -fg white -bg black -geometry 80x24 -name "caremanager (clini)" +s -sl 13767 -ls &;

be sure to have the Start Method as Telnet,
the Program Type X Windows, check the "show client on start up menu" box, and click the "other" button and check the "show progress box". save it under a unique name and run.

Oops, change the -name param to be the name of your system, I obviously neglected to remove that info when I posted.

Maybe this will help: In the exceed (xconfig?) configuration, choose communication, and select XDMCP query. Save the change. When you restart exceed it should prompt you for a host to connect to. If dtlogin is running on the HP side, you should be good to go.

On PC where Exceed is Install , execute Xconfig, Select Communication Tab, You will See XDMP Broadcast Tab into it, there select Edit TAB, Simply add your HPUX ServerName. This works..
