hangup & crash with Unix11i
we have many C3600/C3700 WS and since Unix 11i was installed we notice random crash phenomena: the system first hangs up - you are not able to start any cde-action with mouse/keyboard - and shortly after that the system re-boots automatically and shows a system crash-message.
In the attached Index file you can see a message like"
panic Took a trap type interrupt on ICS"

Re: hangup & crash with Unix11i
Could you please let me know what the message:
"panic Took a trap type interrupt on ICS" means? What is ICS?
Thank you,
Alessandra

Re: hangup & crash with Unix11i
I am very sorry but I think that your problem could be perhaps corrected by a patch (which possibly doesnt exist yet ...), because it seems to happen on several systems. But in many cases, you need to ask HP to analyze your crash to get an answer. Try at least to get a stack trace from your dump. You could use q4 (located in /usr/contrib/bin/q4) and run WhatHappened or trace event 0.
Regards,
Jean-Louis.

Re: hangup & crash with Unix11i
It is a panic in the ICS (Interruption Control Stack). So the best things to do if you have this behavior on several system: install lastest patch bundle or log a call in order to anaylse the dump (but it will probably ask for patche installation).
Bye.

Re: hangup & crash with Unix11i
since you installed patch bundles from 2001 I would suggest to install the bundles from 2002.
It might be a problem with streams and arpa patches. (Just guessing)
