how to change desktop environment

Anyone knows how to chnage the desktop envirnoment in which it was personalized and i want to bring back the default common desktop environment. To makes things clear just like in windows the wallpaper was changed and i want to placed it back the windows wallpaper default. How to dealt with this.

Your personal stuff should be stored in your
"${HOME}/.dt" directory. You should be able
to do something like log out from the
workstation, remsh/ssh/Telnet in from
somewhere else, "mv .dt .dt_old", and then
log in again at the workstation. You should
get a new ".dt" directory with a set of new
template file copies in it. You could then
compare the new stuff with the old stuff, and
bring back anything you really liked.
