howto create an ISO make recovery to burn on a win dvd writer
Hi everyone,
I have an itanium hpux11iv2 system without dvd burner, without tape and network unreacheable.
I want to create an iso make recovery then transfer the iso file on an usb key and then burn the iso dvd an windows system with dvd burner.
Is it possible and how?

Re: howto create an ISO make recovery to burn on a win dvd writer
Shalom,
You would need a USB key bigger than currently available. I believe a DVD burner might be less expensive than a 10 GB USB key.
Do a make_net_recovery direct it to a local directory and see how much space it needs.
If it will fit on a USB key then you should be able to copy the recovery image to the USB key and burn it onto a DVD in windows.
Don't bother trying to make anything bootable, an bootable image must be made on a HP-UX machine.
What you would try to do in recvery mode is install a basic HP-UX system with Ignite, restore the contents of your DVD(s) and then try and recover off that.
The method will probably work though there will be obstacles and you should try it out before there in an emergency. The method is not supported. A portable tape drive is much more reliable and you can do make_tape_recovery and know you will get support from HP when you try and recover.

Hey;
I asked a very similar question and, although i haven't had a chance to try it out yet, Bob Ingersoll's answer seems most promising. Here's the link:
