HP's OMNIBACK AND ORACLE8 ONLINE BACKUP USING RMAN

Hi ALL,

I want to integrate Omniback with Oracle8's Recovery Manager to do Online
Backup (Hotbackup). What do I need to do? I do not have Omniback software
installed yet. What products do I need to install (with the supported versions)
and what sort of configuration do I need to do in Omniback apart from the
Relinking of Omniback with Oracle libraries.

Has anyone implemented this succesfully?
I will appreciate any useful installation and configuration documentations of
the Omniback products.

Thanks.

Regards,

Doyin

Doyin,
You will have to purchase the Rman component from Oracle, and in you will
also need the Online Extension license for Omniback to perform db backups.

Make sure you go thru the rman docs from Oracle, the setup information for your
hot backups will be obtained using both the Omniback documentation, and the
RMAN docs.
The relinking is critical, as is performing each step as outlined in the HP
OpenView OmniBack II UNIX Integration Guide, starting on page 13.

Upgrading to OmniBack 3.1 running on a HP Unix 10.20 platform. What version of
Oracle8 do I need to be at? Omniback 2.5 only allowed us to be at 8.0.4.3. Can
I run Omniback 3.1 with 8.0.4?
