HP-UX on AS400

We are trying to convince a prospective client to purchase our accounting software, which runs on MPE or HP-UX.

He is happy that our software is the correct solution and is willing to buy an HP9000, but in unhappy about "dumping" his recently purchased AS400.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what he can do with it? I assume he cannot run HP-UX on it. Perhaps he could use it as a file server.

Any other ideas?

Re: HP-UX on AS400

James,

I agree - file server or possible a boat anchor. You're absolutely right that it's not going to run HP-UX. It's a completely different architecture.

Re: HP-UX on AS400

Hi,

absolutely different architecture AS400 than PA-RISC and Itamium, then it is not possible to install HP-UX.
PA-RISC and Itanium are the only 2 hw architecture where installing HP-UX.

Re: HP-UX on AS400

If your accounting package runs on MPE, does that mean its cobol based? Then AS400 can run cobol, so you could adapt your application for AS400.

Other than that, the AS400 (EBCDIC based) would be a headache to integrate with other non-AS400 systems.

my 2 cents
