HPUX 11.00: Server boot up, Console Logs, ISL

I have a two node MCSG cluster composed of two L2000 servers running HPUX 11.0. One of the nodes, after executing the "shutdown -r 0" command, hangs on starting up at the ISL prompt. I have checked the primary boot and mirror boot devices using the "lvlnboot -v " and "setboot" commands as being correct; I have applied the recommended shutdown patch, however the server still hangs at the ISL prompt... Questions: A) When using the web console to access the server, what is the command(s)to access the console logs? B) When at the ISL prompt(ISL>), what is the command to boot the server into multi-user run level 3? Any insight to the solution would be greatly appreciate. Thanks

A) From the web console press CTRL-B, then SL to show the logs. Its pretty self-explanatory from there

B) Just typing:

hpux

should boot the box fine. I would examine your boot strings carefully to make sure you have no mistakes in them. To check the boot string run the following from a root prompt:

lifcp /dev/dsk/cXtYdZ:AUTO -

replacing cXtYdZ with your primary boot disks id.

See http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x62eecdec06f1d61190050090279cd0f9,00.html.

As per JRF: 'autoboot' and 'autosearch' can be set/reset via the 'setboot' command. 'autoboot' when "off" indicates that you want to be prompted to chose your boot path and possibly interract with the IPL. If 'autoboot' is "on" an unattended bootup occurs.

'autosearch' "on" causes a search to occur for all bootable devices. The list of devices is then presented for selection. 'autosearch' has meaning only when 'autoboot' is "off".
