At console, hit a key when you see the 10 second prompt.

Though console port is configured for other application, it wont start till machine boots.
So what you can do is connect a console to the port, and reboot the machine when the boot sequence starts and asks for interupt, press any key and boot in single user mode.

The best solution would be to go for pinging the range of IP address you have assigned to the server..
