Hung console processes running on rx4640 11.23
Hi,
We have two rx4640's running 11.23. Each rx4640 has four CPU's. From time to time, we find processes running that have taken over the entire CPU. These processes are processes that were started from the graphics console. We think that what happens is that someone will start up vi or some other process from the console. The person then leaves the console alone for awhile and it times out. When user then attempts to unlock the console, they enter an extra when logging in and the vi is gone from view and somehow pushed into the background - whatever was running before the timeout, is gone. This will always cause the problem, however lately we have been very careful about our console logins and yet, today I found a vi process sucking up and entire CPU. The vi was started from pts/0 - the console. According to sar, this process had been running (apparently in the background somehow) for over a day.
Any body else ever see this problem? Anyone have a fix?
Thanks,
Darrell Tschakert

I'll add a quote when I think of one.
