Ignite fails newfs command when restoring OS
I have an HP-UX 11.0 server that had an
old version of Ignite on it B.2.3.205 that
HP said had a bug in it. It fails on the newfs
part with a message about invalid option -- o
Assuming it is referring to -o nolargefiles
being displayed in the newfs command string
and the Usage displayed does not have -o as
an option. How did this get by QA....??
So my Ignite tapes are no good. I am going to
try and install from CD and restore from
backup tapes, but does anyone have any insite
on this? It takes this server 15 minutes to
reset if something goes wrong.
Also, I understand you cannot replace/restore
certain files and dirs like /etc/lvmtab, /dev,
etc...
If I cannot restore lvmtab then I cannot get
any of my SAN/Array volume groups back without
manually re-creating them.
Also, the ignite tape has all the files on
the second volume. Is it possible to dump
thos on an Ignite server and boot the server
from the net and use these file for the
install?
Any recovery technics that someone has gone through would be very helpfull. It is 7:55pm
CST. It's going to be a long night.
I at least have the system_stats info of the
box to go by for DR.
