whats this 2 step media recovery ????????

In case your system cannot boot from tape, you need to boot from the install DVD.

This is step 1.

Now select

-> Install HP-UX -> select Advanced Installation -> Recovery tape -> GO!

Ignite will restore the backup from tape.
This is step 2.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Ignite recovery...Two step media recovery

hello boomer.
From what I can gather in itanium you need to boot from a CD or DVD, then there will be a menu from were you can choose your tape device to recover your system.

Check the following threads out for more information.

Re: Ignite recovery...Two step media recovery

You might wanna check the firmware level of your Itanium and read release notes for the latest version.
Depending on the model a firmware upgrade for Itanium systems can add an option to boot the system from tape directly without the need of a CD/DVD.
