I have an HPUX machine version 11.11,
The setup is 1 frontend server and 1 database server, with database server also acting as ntp server.
I received user complaints about IO error during login in the morning between 7am to 9am during weekdays. The IO error during login doesnt seem to occur in the afternoon, and didnt occur the last 2 days.
I attached a part of syslog.log which contains a lot of Incorrect NT password.
Thanks in advance for the help

Re: IO error during login
Hello Chris:
I think that you have any machine try login into your system. Have you got any tool of monitor?
Please active the debug in inetd whit
#inetd -b
and chech syslog looking for ip of the server.
bye

Solution
The syslog shows the integrated setup you are using to accept windows passwords is not working, at least for that user.
There is no evidence of an I/O error in that log.
The time period you note is peak for login of users. Its possible your system is overloaded. You could run glance gpm or the utilities I'm attaching to try and collect some data during this period.
I'd guess some resource limit is being breached but to be more specific, an error text from the user is required.
You could also test for hardware faults with cstm, mstm or X windows xstm. Run the excercize feature on disks and memory. Any errors will probably warrant a hardware call and part replacement.
