Re: ioscn gives NO_HW

If ioscan reports NO_HW, your system cannot see the drive. Check all connections and cables but consider to have a bad drive and replace it.

Hope this helps!

Re: ioscn gives NO_HW

if using fc connection
check with fcmsutil /dev/
check status for driver state

if using scsi, maybe your cable not plug properly.

Re: ioscn gives NO_HW

Try restting the device and check, since its showing as NO_HW its not a driver issue, either cable is not connected prperly or may be there is some hardware issue.

Re: ioscn gives NO_HW

The problem may be with the connections, cable, controller or the drive itself. Try checking the drive and the cable on another system to see if it works.

Re: ioscn gives NO_HW

Dear prash,
please speify which ultrium you are connected to your system.if it having auto termination please check the cable ,other wise check the terminator and scsi cable from server to ultrium drive ,make ensure that it is powering on .you can check in pdc wether it is detecting the drive in there

Re: ioscn gives NO_HW

Hi Prash,

If the OS says NO_HW, it cannot see it.

Check the physical device, could be bad cable, terminator, powered-down.

Check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log and see if there are errors/error-codes pertaining to the HW as well.

Cheers,

Re: ioscn gives NO_HW

Another possablilty could be:

If you are using a SCSI connection to the Ultrium drive, the speed of the SCSI card may need to be changed to match up the the Ultrium drive.

Do an "ioscan -fnH0/3/1/0" and paste it please.
If at first you don't succeed, read the man page.
