Re: Is it 64 bit OS ?

This will tell you, the naswer will say 32 or 64

# getconf KERNEL_BITS

Also look here on the compatibility chart:

Re: Is it 64 bit OS ?

Yes go through the man pages of "getconf" or do
getconf KERNEL_BITS
this will show whether its 64 or 32.
Other way is to run sam go to performance monitor and then system property
this will tell you everything you want.

Re: Is it 64 bit OS ?

file /stand/vmunix does not specify 32/64 bit on a 10.20 machine. Does the 10.20 OS support 32 bit binaries only?

Re: Is it 64 bit OS ?

Just use
# getconf HW_CPU_SUPP_BITS
what kernel bits your machine supports
Use
# getconf KERNEL_BITS
to find the present installed kernel bits

Re: Is it 64 bit OS ?

go to http://www.cmve.net/~merijn/#FAQ or https://www.beepz.com/personal/merijn/#FAQ to not only find the answer to your question, as most others also replied, but also find a script that shows you the answer and all other related answers to your OS:

# ux
hostname HP-UX 11.0/64 9000/800/L1000-44/64 PA8500/440 pa-2.0 512 Mb

Re: Is it 64 bit OS ?

that is correct, 10.20 is a 32-bit kernel only.

a 32-bit HP-UX kernel only supports 32-bit applications.

a 64-bit HP-UX kernel supports both 32 and 64-bit applications

Also, if one is running 11.X on a system with PA-8500 or later CPUs, only a 64-bit kernel is supported.
