I installed this patch on a test box because the security_patch_check said it should be installed. After it was installed ssh and a few other services stopped working.
Patch Name: PHNE_28538
Patch Description: s700_800 11.00 cumulative ARPA Transport patch
Creation Date: 03/03/10
Post Date: 03/05/13
Looks someone else had more issues then I did... http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x2d448b82cc91d711abdc0090277a778c,00.html
From my syslog after installing the patch:
Jun 9 13:11:59 hpdev diagmond[1444]: started
Jun 9 13:12:00 hpdev diagmond[1444]: Exit due to initialization failure
Jun 9 13:12:22 hpdev sshd[1612]: Server listening on 0.0.0.0 port 22.
Jun 9 13:12:32 hpdev inetd[790]: registrar/tcp: accept: Invalid argument
Jun 9 13:13:51 hpdev sshd[1612]: error: accept: Invalid argument
Jun 9 13:25:02 hpdev inetd[790]: registrar/tcp: accept: Invalid argument
Jun 9 13:27:22 hpdev above message repeats 5 times
Looks like this patch must break something having to do with accept with tcpip. For me this patch was installed on a development/test box and not one of our production boxes. Should I log a call about this anyways? Is there any other way to notify HP of this bug without logging a case? I just un-installed the patch but I would hate for other people to install it and have it cause problems for them also.

Re: Issue With PHNE_28538 (ARPA patch)
Justin,
I did a search of our database and didn't see any issues logged to date against that patch. Logging a call would be a good idea. We'll get a networking engineer to take a look into what may be causing the problem. They would be able to submit any requests necessary to get the patch revised.
Regards,
Eric

Re: Issue With PHNE_28538 (ARPA patch)
I had the same problem. I just got rid of it by removing all recalled kernel patches and installing PHKL_29648 before applying 28538. HTH
