K460 install 11.0 64-bit

I have just upgraded my system from a K410 to a K460 and went to cold install 11.0 64-bit OS but only 32 bit is available. Original system was 10.20, output of model command is 9000/800/K460. PDC firmware revision is 39.43.
Why won't it let me install 64-bit?
Please help.

Hi David,

Call your HP Mr. Goodwrench guys back; the model string must be a lowercase 'k' for the 64-bit install to recognize it. They are going to have to modify stable memory.

I know this sounds crazy but it is your problem.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: K460 install 11.0 64-bit

david,
we had similar problem on K450 - we ahd to have HP come in and run some utility called ss config or something like that to update the internal model string. Otherwise 64 bit doesnt show up as a choice for you. For us we needed the 9000/800/K450 to change to 9000/804/K450.

take a look at /etc/.supported_bits file

David,

I had the same problem. The CE has to run ssconfig and change the model string to "9000/889/K460" .

Check /etc/.supported_bits. If your model string in not in this file then it will think it only supports 32 bit. Have HP CE correct the model string if not listed in /etc/.supported_bits.
