Why won't it let me install 64-bit?

SolutionCall your HP Mr. Goodwrench guys back; the model string must be a lowercase 'k' for the 64-bit install to recognize it. They are going to have to modify stable memory.
I know this sounds crazy but it is your problem.

we had similar problem on K450 - we ahd to have HP come in and run some utility called ss config or something like that to update the internal model string. Otherwise 64 bit doesnt show up as a choice for you. For us we needed the 9000/800/K450 to change to 9000/804/K450.
take a look at /etc/.supported_bits file

I had the same problem. The CE has to run ssconfig and change the model string to "9000/889/K460" .
