HI All,
I have two rp2405 in cluster,
this morning after a reboot of node 1 I can't
find info in the syslog.log
from 8.20 to 9.15 there aren't info... the server was up and running,
but probably hanged!!
Where can I find some good info??

Re: lost info!!!

Hi,

My first guess is that no messages were logged, because there was noting to log. Check you /etc/syslog.conf and man syslogd for more info.

If you are convinced messages were lost i would
set up sar and monitor server load. This might give you a indication. And patches

Regards,

Re: lost info!!!

Where Can I find logs when a server hang or crash??
I know
/var/adm/crash
/var/tombstones
/etc/rc.log
/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
/etc/cmclcuster/PKG/pkgs.log

Re: lost info!!!

Look on both systems in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log as any downtime on one system would, if SG is properly set up, start on the other node and these events would be placed in this file.

Re: lost info!!!

If the server is hung and not logging anything then there is not much you can do. If nothing has been logged to syslog.log or dmesg then you are pretty much out of luck.

Re: lost info!!!

When a system seems to hang, you'll have to go the 'real' console. There are lots of network problems that look like a hang so using a network connection to check the health of the system won't work. syslog won't log anything if no packets are getting through. To see the details needed to solve a system hang, you'll need to purchase GlancePlus and use the Measureware tool to log all system activity. You can probably solve most hangs by keeping up to date on patches.
