map Timezone to Ignite values

I have a script which gets input from GUI in time zone format like:
America/Indiana/Marengo
America/Indiana/Vevay
America/Kentucky/Louisville
America/Kentucky/Monticello
America/New_York
America/North_Dakota/Center
Can I specify timezone in this format when creating the config in Ignite?

If not is there any resource I can use to map these to values like EST5EDT that I know ignite supports

Re: map Timezone to Ignite values

Of course you can; however, there will a teeny-weeny problem. No UNIX box in the world would know what to do with TZ=America/Kentucky/Monticello. Now if your script stores the Timezone as you describe in a file then Ignite can certainly back this file up and restore it but such a 'Timezone' would only have meaning for applications that actually understand it.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Is this some Java or Windows format?

Re: map Timezone to Ignite values

Shalom,

I know Linux recognizes such formats, however its really a trick. The city is there merely to help the installer find the correct time zone.

In My neck of the woods, the time is the same in Gaza, Jerusalem, and Amman, however when the time zone switches is different based on government body, therefore the setting matters more.

In the US its meaningless.

There is a county in Indiana where they decided to moved from one zone to the other. :-)
