maxfiles_lim and nproc in 11.31

hi,

we are configuring kernel parameters to meet the pre-requisits of oracle 11gr2 installtion on hpux 11.31 itanium.

kindly check the given below requirements (as per oracle docs) and current output/values/situation in our setup:

maxfiles_lim=63488

etldts01:[/]# kctune maxfiles_lim=63488
ERROR: The proposed values for nfile (65048) and maxfiles_lim
(63488)do not meet the constraint of (nfile >= (2 *
maxfiles_lim)).

where-as current nfile is set to (15*nproc+2048) and nproc is 4200.

Do we need to double the nfile to meet the maxfiles_lim requirements or there's some-other parameter for this instead of maxfiles_lim in 11.31?

2. noproc=4096

etldts01:[/]# kctune -v noproc
ERROR: There is no tunable named 'noproc'.

is there any other kernel parameter in 11.31 for this parameter and it was wrongly written in oracle docs?

Hi:

Read the manpages for 'maxfiles_lim' and 'nproc' to understand the constraints and safe upper limits for these parameters.

There is no 'noproc' --- you mean 'nproc'.

i have made nfile double the maxfiles_lim to meet the requirements.
