MC/SG decides to perform a package Transfer Of Control each time a fault is detected on the SPU where the package is running; the fault can be detected according several events reported by the EMS (Event Monitoring Service). To select the meaningful events the SAM / EMS can be used.
My problem is: in the SAM /EMS I don't find all the options to trigger all the meaningful events ... for instance, if I want to trigger the TOC on the status of lancard #3, I cannot! because the /interfaces option is no present under the /net subtree (only OSI / x25 is present).
Do I have to install some new SW? something else?
In the time being on my cluster no events are triggered, then, I suppose that the TOC is performed only when the SPU seems no more able to properly run the package (isolation, memory fault...) and the is detected by the MC/SG running on the spare SPU, not by the MC/SG running on the SPU itself.
Thanks in advance.

Re: MC/SG and EMS: how to trigger the events to perform the TOC
what does :
resls /net
and
resls /net/interfaces
show you?
if the result of the second one is nothing, then I think i recall an SNMP Emanate patch that is needed. What version of OS/EMS/SG are you running?

Re: MC/SG and EMS: how to trigger the events to perform the TOC
Under /net only subnetwork is present; under subnetwork only osi/x25 subtree.
Thanks

SolutionThe standard EMS available free of Cost will not monitor the hardware the way you want. To monitor the network and do a TOC on network failure i.e. to integrate EMS with SG or other HA product you need to buy a seperate product (EMS HA Monitor) which is a $$$ product and is not available free of cost. Here is a link from hp docs on the EMS HA monitor.
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B5735-90001/B5735-90001.html
This is the product,
EMS HA Monitor bundle (P/N B5735AA-APZ) and license (P/NB5736AA-APZ)
Hope this helps.
