Mux and Printer

We have a couple old HP Linx printers. We just got a system with a mux, and I need to know what the device path is to the mux. For instance, I plugged in the line printer into port a1.. What is the device path to that? /dev/???? I see mux0 mux1 mux3 in /dev/ put nothing else that looks anything like it is mux related...Please help! Thanks!

Re: Mux and Printer

The device files will be named like-
/dev/cua0p7

Where 0 is the mux, and 7 is the port.

But you must first create them. SAM has an interface to help do this.

Re: Mux and Printer

Can I use a generic serial cable to go from the MUX to the HP LIne Printer? What Baud speed should it be set at?

Re: Mux and Printer

A standard RS-232 cable should work. Baud rate is determined by what the printer is configured. Under "SAM" you create the port under "TERMINAL AND MODEMS" and you specify the baud rate there.

This is turning into a pain in the ass, I think a jet direct card is in order ;)
