NIS Map error at login

"Transient YP error 4 searching NIS map"
HPUX11:00

Hi all,

A simple sounding error...

When we try and login in to a NIS client, we get the above error. ypcat passwd works.

On NIS client what do you get for
# ypwhich -m

Do you see any error/messages in syslog on NIS client?

Are you using "ypset" or "ypservers" for binding? Same Subnet or separate sunbets?

NIS master/slave servers are HPUX or Solaris based?

I would check for network performance as well.
