Partitioning questions

If doing 3 vpar partitions on a 7410 and want to use online JFS and glance do I need to load it into each partition or just once also is it just priced on total amount of processors. Is there any additional software I need to do the vpars or is it all in 11i
Thanks for the help

Re: Partitioning questions

You'll need to load it for each partition. Remember that each vpar is really a seperate machine and therefor requires it's own boot disk, etc.

Not sure about the pricing. I believe that the base vpar software only allows for 2 partitions and you need to purchase a license if you want 3 partitions.

Hope that helps a bit

Re: Partitioning questions

you'll need to load it three times.

You'll need to install the OS three times.

I'm not sure about the pricing question though...

There is a specific level your GSP must be at the be able to handle VPARS, but so long as you keep up with GSP and PDC patches, you should be fine.

Re: Partitioning questions

Hi..
I thought 7410 do not support vpars yet.

Thanks.
Prashant.
Take it as it comes.

Re: Partitioning questions

I found out they are licensing per total amount off processors on the server i.e. online JFS and vpar software also I guess they pulled the vpar software until Dec due to many bugs???? Go UT
