Print Spooler corrupted
I am experiencing a strange problem with the print spooler. (Hp-Unix 11.11 )
When I do lpstat -t, I am seeing four printers listed over there with a status Accepting requests.
SAM is showing no printers configured on the system, when I try deleting printer (lpadmin -x
I have tried adding a jet direct printer with hppi utility- But here too no luck- It will abort the operation saying cannot shutdown the spooler.
Tried after stopping the scheduler but the result reamins the same.
I have tried for a backup of my Spooler config, but no joy again -The error is,
"There is no saved print spooler configuration (the file "/var/sam/lp/lpinfo" does not exist). Unless you have reason to
suspect the current print spooler Connfiguration is corrupt, you may prefer to save the current print spooler state now. For more information, choose "Overview" from the "Help" pulldown menu. "
Dear unix Gurus, please advice.

Re: Print Spooler corrupted
Is there any way to bring back to normal ? My requirement is to add some new printers. I dont mind loosing any existing printers.
Thanks

Re: Print Spooler corrupted
1. Check the spooler functionality after rebooting the server
2. If above step does not help, re-install spooler from OS CD with an option of selected products>spooler

Re: Print Spooler corrupted
ps -ef|grep lp
kill any lpsched or other processes owned by lp.
# ll /var/spool/lp
prw------- 1 lp lp 0 Aug 1 03:02 FIFO
-rw-rw-rw- 1 lp lp 4 Jul 5 11:29 SCHEDLOCK
remove these if there
Then try lpsched -v
look in /var/spool/lp/log for errors
What does lpstat -t give
