Re: problem while do make_recovery
I checked system according to your suggestions:
1. I really did logged on as root.
2. tftp is enable
3. no logs under the directory of /var/opt/ignite/logs
any other clues for me? figuring it out is really important for me.
the version of HP-UX installation utilitiy is
B.2.5.136, the OS is 10.01
thanks

Re: problem while do make_recovery
Just to make sure :
1. You installed Ignite
2. You executed the following (example from one of my servers) :
root/sv00220#cd /opt/ignite/bin
root/sv00220#./make_recovery -A -v -d /dev/rmt/0m
And that's when the problem occurs ... right ?

Re: problem while do make_recovery
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/docs/release_note_A.3.4.html
QUOTE:
1.1 Release Numbering Scheme
=============================
The B.* releases of Ignite-UX are based on the 11.11 version of HP-UX.
The A.* releases are based on 10.20. The Ignite-UX code base is the same
for the two releases so the features will be similar. The big difference
is that the B.* releases are capable of installing the 11.11, 11.00, and
10.20 releases of HP-UX, where as A.* Ignite-UX can install 10.20, 10.10,
and 10.01.
The format is:
{A|B}.major-rev.minor-rev.ticker
{A|B} => A: supports HP-UX 10.x Ignite-UX servers
installing HP-UX 10.x targets
=> B: supports HP-UX 11.00 & 11.11 Ignite-UX servers
installing HP-UX 11.00, 11.11 and 10.20 targets
major-rev => Major software release number, rarely changes
except when a major change occurs (like network
system recovery!).
minor-rev => Changes at each release.
ticker => Changes each time we rebuild the product and
is reset each time minor-rev changes.
May also change when a very minor change
to the product is made to fix an isolated
defect or add new hardware support.
NOTE: Prior to the B.3.0 Ignite-UX release, the B.* releases were
based on an 11.00 version of HP-UX.
END QUOTE
so your B version will not install a 10.01 system, you need to get the A.xxxxxversion

Re: problem while do make_recovery
thanks for your continuing support.
For melvyn burnard:
The version of application disk I used is 11.00, but 3 versions of Installation Utility are listed on this disk: 10.01, 10.20, 11.00.
I installed 10.01, so what you mean is that I used wrong application disk? if yes, why does app disk with the version of 11.00 include Inst Utility of 10.01?
Pls explain and help me.
Thanks a lot.

SolutionWhat you need to do is go to:
http://software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html#down10
and download the Ignite/UX version that is for HP-UX 10.01.
Install this and I think you will be set.
Be sure to swremove the version you already have installed before you install the correct version.
