processing Sybase .dmp files
We have two HP 9000 K370 servers using Nike 20 arrays. They have the maximum number of processors and memory. The Nike array has 20 18 gb drives. The tunable kernel parameters are identical. The os is 11.0. One server processes the Sybase .dmp files almost twice as fast as the other server. We have tried to build both servers identically. I am at a loss as to where to look for the time disparity.

Re: processing Sybase .dmp files
Hi Ernest,
Have you checked the patch level of both the servers? Both should have the same hpux patch.
You can also try with dd and read/write 5 GB file from both the server one at a time and check the performance. Incase you find a major diffecence then you can suspect your hardware scsi/fibre card/cable/connector.
Thanks,

Re: processing Sybase .dmp files
Ernest,
I would start off by looking at the following factors on both the servers
1. SCSI cards
2. Patch Levels
3. Disk Layouts
4. File Systems
regards
Mobeen
