Product Naming Conventions (letters)

Hi,

Just wondering, what is the naming conventions for the versions of the HP-UX products, particularly the letter "A" and "B", for example:

Integrity VM A.03.50HP Integrity Virtual Machines version 3.5

Integrity VM B.04.00HP Integrity Virtual Machines version 4.0

Thanks

At one time they meant different versions of the product.  And the numbers following it would be reset.

Re: Product Naming Conventions (letters)

These days a letter change represents a fundamental change in the product.

Ignite for example went from B.6.y.z to C.7.y.z when 11.31 support was introduced. From memory with HPVM it went from A to B when the host OS changed from requiring 11.23 to requiring 11.31. Versions don't usually restart with a letter change these days.
