Raid Level select for HPUX 11.23 running SAP R/3
curent w are having 2 HPUX servers in clusters running SGeSAP(SAP R/3) and one SAP BW Server .all these setup connected on HP VA7110 with autoraid configured ...Due to space crunch we are going to replace the storage and purchased CX700 .As a system administrator which raid group to be suggested for This production servers to have better performance(compared to current setup) ...what are the other possible best practises ?

we are going to replace VA 7110 and going to put CX700 ..As per my understanding RAID 1 luns for production is good or RAID 5 luns ...
since in storage they are creating two storage group RAID 1 and RAID 5 .

In general (theory) a RAID1 has faster writes than a RAID5, because there are no calculations needed, a RAID5 has faster reads because of more disks.
This is theory, since a striped RAID1 has also a lot of disks it may read as fast as a RAID5 do, so the speed advantage of a RAID1 writes remains.
