Remote tape drive

Dear Experts,
Is there any way to export out the tape devices, so it can remote use by other server ?
I'm only known in SAM the fbackup can remote backup using other server tape drives.

fbackup will work to other hp's, but if they all aren't, look at gnu's tar.

you can use from the local machine
#tar cvf - /opt|(remsh dd of=/dev/rmt/0m)
Even you can specify the obs(output block size)
Also you can use
fbackup remotely as mentioned above by
Mr.print..

It seems that you require more input on fbackup,
In case you would like to make a backup from a remote system to a local
DAT/DSS tape drive, you can use this comand:
remsh remote_name "/etc/fbackup -f local_name:/dev/rmt/0m -i . -0 -v"

remote_name= system that runs the backup.
local_name = system that owns the DAT/DSS drive.

If you are logged-in on the other system, then:
/etc/fbackup -f remote_name:/dev/rmt/0m -i . -0 -v

I need to assign the remote tape drive to my informix database for my informix backup.
It's like I NFS mount the cdrom from other server.
Any command can remote mount the tape drive ?

Hi,
For CDROM,it is treated as cdfs file system that is why we are able to do NFS mount.But for tape drive I don't think it is possible.

No, there is no way to NFS mount a tape drive.
