reset passwd in NIS

how to reset the user password in the NIS client and in the master NIS server.
only the passwd command is enough,

Hi,

well RJG's link is for master NIS server and slave NIS server.
If you only have one NIS server and the others are clients, a 'passwd' is enough.

I thought you needed "passwd -r nis".

Hi again,

well in my environment (1 nis-server, 40 clients, NO slave) a passwd always worked.
Obviously (no lokal user passwords) the password has to be changed at the server, so it should work for all clients.
