Rolling Upgrade from 10.20 => 11.00???
I am having trouble working out the best way to achieve a rolling upgrade in a 2 node cluster from 10.20 to 11.00. The problem is that I have an Oracle D/Base and want to keep it up for the maximum amount of time, at some point it will have to be bought down to upgrade it to run on HPUX 11.00 as Oracle is version specific, to the version of the O/S ? Can someone give me a brief step by step of the best way to achieve this ??? Thanks in advance,
Scott.
Scott.

Re: Rolling Upgrade from 10.20 => 11.00???
There is no simple easy way to do what you plan without a significant element of risk. We have just accomplished a similar upgrade of our 2 node SG cluster here from 10.20.to 11 and Oracle 7 to 8. After long thought the fastest way to accomplish this was to build a new HP-UX 11 cluster with 2 new (borrowed) servers, load Oracle8, load a copy of the db, test,test,test, fix the tons of problem we found - as you would expect with such a large OS and App upgrade, then over the weekend copy over the Oracle DB live data and swap over the servers. It worked fine for us, downtime was at a minimum, and weve still got the 10.20 cluster in the background in case we have problems with the new 11 cluster and need to revert. As low a risk as possible.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
