Hi,

Does anyone know if I can restore a ignite backup taken from a N4000 or L1000 on a L3000-system (rp5470).

Hardware paths are going to be different so don't think that everything will magically configure correctly. You will however get an OS on the box.

Recent versions of Ignite will allow a restore to a different platform, so make sure you've got the latest version before you try.

Couple of problems you need to think about.

1 Version of Ignite - make sure it the latest.


2 Patch level required for L3000. I would add the latest Hardware Extension Patches to the N4000 or L1000 prior to creating the ignite tapes.


The install should be successfull, but check the disks ignite uses are correct. The only config work you may need to do is for the LAN cards.

And of course any non-root VGs.

The PAX patch is often necessary. Get it before getting the newest IGNITE.
